68: How to Eat The Elephant

Have you ever been to a place where you just wanted to skip the whole college experience and just get your degree. Or was there ever a time you wanted to just loose 20 pounds without going to the gym? Have you ever had a dream home that you envisioned that you automatically just wanted to move in like today? Or how about the time you think about how you want to just get married this weekend and skip the dating process?Have you ever just had an idea to open a business and you’ve seen yourself with your dream job but you just haven’t even finished getting your thought together. Have you ever felt like you wanted to become an Author but you never even wrote the first paragraph.

Girl! In this episode, I am going to explain to you how to eat the elephant.

When I say the elephant, I’m referring the the end results of your goal. The elephant is the house you want, the degree you want to obtain, that husband you desire, or your ideal weight. See, a lot of times, we see the end results and don’t want to go through the process. A lot of times, you want to be the principal but haven’t mastered being the teacher. You want to be the top sales person in your company but haven’t mastered the first sale. And that’s just to name a few. There are three main points that I want to leave with you today and I really want you to understand this.

Once you understand the process, you will know how important it is to take things step by step. What I want you to do is to take baby steps. See, a lot of times we dream of being a millionaire, but we can’t even manage the $1,000.00 that we have. We see the end results but don’t want to take the necessary steps to actually accomplish those goals. Let’s be honest, we are so used to getting things quickly but it doesn’t work like with success.

A lot of times we see Steve Harvey for what he is today. He’s a millionaire, has been on several different TV shows, he has a talk show, he’s done comedy and he has a beautiful wife. But we overlook that fact that he’s been homeless for three years. We overlook the fact that he got $50 for his first comedy act. We overlook that fact that he’s been married before, and we overlook the fact that he started his comedy career going from small gigs to small gigs. What I want you to realize in this episode is how to eat the elephant. And the answer is, One bite at a time.

The first thing you need to do is to

  1. Develop Your Plan

My question to you is what’s your plan? What’s your strategy? How do you plan to get that dream house that you want? How much money do you have to save per week or per day so that you can have a down payment? Are you saving 8-12% of your income to accomplish your goals?

What’s the thing that you are going to cut out so that you can save? Will you minimize or diminish shopping? The reason why you need to develop a plan is because if you don’t know where you are going then any road will take you there. Developing your plan means that no matter what you won’t deviate from the plan. See, when you develop your plan and stick to the plan then you will be unstoppable.

You can’t expect a body builder to compete with someone who barely works out. Why, because the body builder had a plan to workout out daily to build the stamina that they have. When you develop your plan, you recognize where you are and you make the necessary steps on how you will get there.

You identify what’s important, and you are able to define what you are able to achieve. While you develop your plan, your goals are written down in someway shape or form. It’s either on a vision board, so you can see it daily. You say your plans out loud as affirmations, or you can even write them down and reflect on them each night. Whatever method you choose, you must develop a plan.

Without first setting your goals correctly, it is impossible to focus on a plan to achieve them. That is why goal setting is so vital important because it helps you to remain focused. Even when you don’t feel like it.

So the way to eat the elephant, is one bite at a time. Develop a plan and strategy and I guarantee it, before you know it, you will have eaten the elephant.

2. The second point that I want to leave with you is the importance of knowing how things comes in parts. As we talk about the elephant, and how to eat it, we must understand that the elephant has different parts of it’s body. Which will you tackle first? The ear, trunk, tusks, legs or tails. A lot of times we don’t master anything because we try to do different parts at one time. Or I’ll say it like this, because we are so multifaceted we tend to be an accountant one day, a hairstylist on another day, a counselor the next, and maybe a photographer as well. Sometimes, and I’m sure you know plenty of individuals who are a jack of all trades but master none. I know that we all have many different capabilities and talents, but we get mixed up because we try to do too much at a time.Understand the importance of taking things in parts. Yes, we play different roles in our life, and we try to manage so much but we must understand the importance of taking things not only as one step at a time, but one part at a time. When you begin to master that one thing, you will begin to see how things will blossom into bigger and better things. I’ll give you a prime example.

Oprah started off on the news. Then she became a talk show host. After that she had her own channel. She focused on the OWN Network and once she mastered that, then she had her magazine, she added super soul Sunday, and now she even have recipes in her name. But it didn’t start out like that. She literally took things in parts. She mastered the art of being on the news, then as a talk show host to now, owning her own network.

If she would have started with the OWN magazine I’m sure that she wouldn’t have the same results. So the biggest way to eat the elephant is to take one bite at a time, and do things in parts.

Quick question? Have you ever got bit by an elephant? I’ll ask that questions again. Have you ever been bit by an elephant? I’m sure the answer is “NO” What I want you to realize is that it’s not the big things that bit us, it’s the small things. 9 times out of ten you will have been bit by a knot or a mosquito. It’s always the small things that keep us from accomplishing our goals. That brings me to point number three.

3. There’s blessings in the details.  Have you ever heard the scripture, be faithful over few then you will be ruler over many? How about a qute that says, “if you can’t do the little things right, you will never do the big things right.” How do you expect to get a new car and you don’t take care the one you have? How do you expect to get a new house when you don’t take care of the one you have? When you are eating the elephant you not only have to take small bites at a time, but you must know that the details matter and in order to get whatever you want, you must pay attention to everything. Always know that it’s the little things that make the big things happen.

In closing, I want you to always remember how to eat the elephant, and that’s one bite at a time. Some may look at the elephant and think it’s impossible. Some may think that’s it’s to much to handle, and other’s may give up before completing the task.

But as you live A Rich Life, you know that you eat the elephant, one bite at a time.

Thanks so much for listening and I can’t wait to talk to you soon.

Your Yes Is in Your Future

social-curator-11-2018-7.JPG

How to React After Receiving so many No's.

1. Think about what you could do to get better results the next time. When we are on our journey to success, we must realize that there is no elevator, but we must take the stairs. So think about how you can get stronger and do better.

2. The next thing I need you to do to keep your momentum and not deviate from your plan. A lot of times when we get a NO we will start doing something else. We will say, well, that didn’t work out I guess I’ll work on a whole new project. BUT NOOOOO!!!! That’s not the answer. Stay focused on that one thing, and I promise the results will come.

3. Is to realize your internal dialogue. A lot of times it’s what we say to ourselves that keep us from achieving. A lot of times we put our own selves down then we wonder why we lose hope. So make sure you have positive affirmations to keep your spirits lifted.

4. And the last thing I want you to do is to make sure that you join our Facebook group. There you will have a place of supportive women who want you to achieve. Who wants you to succeed and who wants you to accomplish your goal.

In closing, remember that you are going to experience some Noes in your life.

And please realize that 99 doesn’t work, but we must get to 100.

Success is Hidden in Your Daily Routine

DBM_8129.jpg

Hello, World!

Thanks so much for listening to A Rich Life podcast. In today's episode, we are talking all about how success is hidden in your daily routine.

Look, it's 2019, and a lot of us are saying things like NEW YEAR, NEW ME! IT"S MY TIME! I'm going to become a better person, and I'm going to lose my weight this year!!!! It's my season of overflow, WELL, the only way that you will be able to get to where you want to be is to look at what you do daily.

They always say, what is done in the dark will eventually come to light. Well, that's really what success is as well.

In this new year, I don't want us to be afraid. Have you felt like you've been playing small all these years?

Do you feel like you deserve more? Do you want to live better and feel like you are living the life that you've always dreamed of?

Well, I'm here to let you know that everything that you want to achieve is on the horizon, but mostly, it's entirely up to you.

Success depends on what you do with every living moment of your life.

Success depends on if you wake up on time or if you hit the snooze button.

Success depends on if you apply yourself daily or if you don't.

What we all need to do is decide today that our lives are going to be different.

When I say that the secret of success is all tied in your daily routine, I'm talking about everything that you are doing with your time.

In this new year, on this new day, we can no longer get consumed in what's going on around us.

We MUST have tunnel vision.

It doesn't matter what folks are doing or what people are saying about us. It doesn't matter what they think about us, and it doesn't matter if they like our Instagram photo or not.

We not only want to SAY WHAT WE WANT but we have to LIVE WHAT WE ARE SAYING!

My mom always told me, she said, LISHA, IF YOU ALWAYS DO WHAT YOU'VE ALWAYS DID, YOU'LL ALWAYS BE WHERE YOU'VE ALWAYS BEEN.

If you keep looking on Facebook, then you will continue to know what everyone else is doing.

If you keep looking at long episodes on Netflix watching everyone else live their dreams, then you will be in the same place next year.

If you keep eating those potato chips and ice cream trying to squeeze in those jeans you KNOW you can't wear anymore, then you will remain there.

If you continue to get on the phone and gossip about what others are doing, then you will remain there.

If you continue to purchase those online courses online and not create your own, then you will continue to sit and watch while others are on the way to achieving their dreams.

The world is turning, and you should be too.

Businesses are being created, and OH SO wants the same for you.

People are developing very successful businesses and don't care who's watching. That can be you too.

So, every single day. From here on out. Let's start to create the life that we want to live.

There's a Coach that says, Talk is CHEAP, but MR Do is the MAN.....

What are you doing GIRLFRIEND?

Look, no longer are we going to find the perfect Instagram meme to describe our feelings or to tell people about our grind. Enough with all the memes and big announcements. Honey, let's be on our grind this year and let's have the receipts and paid invoices to show it.

Quick question.......

Do you think Beyonce is concerned about Rihanna, Cierra, Cardi Bi or Nicki Minaj? I mean really?

Do you think that she's sitting there looking over her shoulder worrying about them?

NO.

I've gone on Beyonce's Instagram page, and she has 122 million followers on Instagram, and she's following NO ONE!

You all, in this new year, let's be trendsetters.

Every day let's come up with a new idea. A new way to grow, a new way to learn, a new way to create.

Every day let's be on our grind.

Every day let's become the person that we need to be that will help us to catapult us forward.

So to live a rich life, here's what you need to do.

1. Get you some daily affirmations.

You need to say things like; I'm fearfully and wonderfully made. My spirit attracts God inspired ideas that create great wealth. You need to speak to yourself; I'm fit, firm and fabulous. Tell yourself this, God is giving me the desires of my heart and is helping my plans to achieve.

Girl! You have to tell yourself say, and I am successful, I am awesome, I am powerful, and I know every day isn't going to be easy, but I'm going to go forth.

You have to say to yourself that God has given us the power to create and obtain wealth.

Girl! As long as we have wifi, a cell phone, and a computer, there is no reason why we should be BROKE!

In 2019 the second thing you will need is self-discipline.

So, when I say that the secret to success is hidden in your daily routine, I mean that some days you won't feel like it.

Some days your body will tell you no. Some days you will take a nap, some days you will get tired. And that's all fine too, but when you are determined to live a rich life you can't let anything stop you.

When your mind tells you no, your dreams have got to say to you yes.

I'm here to tell you to get off the couch, put your ice cream down, and get your laptop, cell phone, and wifi and let's get to work.

And the third thing you will need to ensure that you have a successful 2019 is a clear vision.

Take a trip for me a second.

Imagine that it's raining outside and you get in your car. Everything starts up, your lights work, your horn beeps, you can start, the battery is charged, and your tires are in excellent shape.

But the only thing is, is that it's raining. And your windshield wipers DO NOT WORK.

I'm here to tell you, girlfriend, that you can't go anywhere if your windshield whippers don't work.

For you to move forward, you have to have a clear vision of where you are going and how you are going to get there.

No need to have a perfect vehicle but your windshield whippers don't work in the rain.

So look, let's start on the right track with clear and realistic expectations for the year.

And let's try to plan quarter by quarter. Three months at a time let's set benchmarks for yourself and remember that what you do in a day counts.

If you're looking to transform your life and you need a support group to help you. I always talk on this podcast about who you're surrounded by, and I figured that for us to support each other, that it's essential to get us into a community.

So, if you are looking to be side by side with women who believe in you just as much as I believe in you, well make sure that after you listen to this episode that you join us in our facebook group.

It's A Rich Life with Alisha Richard.

Remember, let's grow together.

I love you all, and I'll talk to you all soon.
